The European Outdoor Group was originally founded in 2003 by 19 of the world’s largest outdoor companies, all of which recognised the need for a cohesive, cross border approach to representation of the outdoor sector. The association grew steadily from that point and by 2014 we had over 60 member brands, along with a close working relationship with nine national outdoor associations. In 2014, we took the decision to accept retailers as full members, broadening the reach of the EOG and making the organisation even more representative of the whole industry.
With the support and direct involvement of our members, and led by our Board and executive team, we have always worked on initiatives for the benefit of the whole European outdoor industry. At any one time, the EOG manages or support projects that are of great importance to the sector, in areas such as market research, trade shows and other events, sustainability, engaging with politicians and legislators, promotion of outdoor activities to the general public, and more. The combined strength of our member brands delivers an extremely powerful force to represent the European outdoor industry in a constructive and positive manner.
