Daily Project Update at the IGOT booth at 13.00 – MEASURING CONSUMER PARTICIPATION IN OUTDOOR ACTIVITY

The European Outdoor Group (EOG) and the It’s Great Out ThereCoalition (IGOT) are seeking interest from the outdoor community to be part of an exciting syndicate study focusing on outdoor sport activities across Europe.InJune 2020 the European Outdoor Group and the It’s Great Out There Coalition jointly published the results of new research on consumer participation in outdoor activity. The wide-ranging survey explored participation levels indifferent outdoor activities in detail and identified variations by country, age, gender, and other demographic measures. The research also explored the barriers that prevent people getting active in the outdoors and identified opportunities for overcoming those. Now, two years later, we are looking to repeat the study to find out if the Covid pandemic had a lasting impact on participation in outdoor activity. Find out more about the metrics and insights which will be available for industry sponsors.

New Market Figures for the Outdoor Trade - State ofTrade Sell In Report and Retail Benchmark Point of Sale Report.

One of the key services delivered by the European Outdoor Group is providing market and product analysis of the sector.  Pauline Shepherd, Head of Market Research will share the latest EOG figures focusing on both wholesale and retail development of the sector. The State of Trade shipment report measures 22 European countries and the objective is to provide an analysis of the market value and volume of the industry across Europe at wholesale, by outdoor product groups. The figures are collected in 2022 for 2021, once all companies have closed their order books for the year. 2021 results will be presented which will include a comparison to pre covid results. The Outdoor Retail Benchmark provides an aggregated measure of key outdoor and sport retailers who are part of the EOG membership. The report measures market developments for the following outdoor sport segments - Outdoor, Running, Water, Winter, Bike and SportFashion. Results to April 2022 will be presented.

Synthetic Fibre & Materials Strategy at Textile Exchange

Textile  Exchange will share an update on its new Fibre and Materials Strategy for  Synthetics, together with ambitious short-term and long-term goals as we work  towards achieving the 45% GHG reduction goal by 2030. Details on the  areas of priority within the Synthetics category, including recycled and bio-based, as well as updates on the activities of the organisation in the  coming years will be explained and discussed.

Transparency  in the Supply Chain using the Open Apparel Registry

The  Open Apparel Registry(OAR) exists to open up supply chain data for the  benefit of all. It is a free, open data tool mapping garment facilities  worldwide and allocating a unique ID to each. With its ability to  automatically map supply chains while simultaneously cleaning data, it has  become a go-to tool for brands collaboratively disclosing their supply chain  data, rather than maintaining disparate spreadsheets and PDFs. Join us to  learn how outdoor brands are benefitting from disclosing their supply chain  data on the OAR, and how the EOG plans to use the OAR in its upcoming work.

Outdoor Retail Climate Commitment (ORCC)

The  Outdoor Retail ClimateCommitment(ORCC) was conceived in 2021 by a  group of progressive retailers who recognised the potential impact  that retail can have in driving the climate conversation and achieve a  climate leadership role -leading by example and enabling consumers  to consume more climate consciously. Heightened  Human Rights Due Diligence – An Insight into Current Risks

At  present there are a number of conflicts that are having a direct impact on  the people working in the outdoor industry’s supply chain, in particular the  respective situations in Ukraine and Myanmar. The European Outdoor Group  invites Fair Wear Foundation to give an overview of ‘heightened human rights  due diligence’ with the aim of building awareness and understanding of the  wide-ranging affects these events have on the human rights and what the  sector can do to address the workers affected.

Higg Tools for Sporting Equipment

Join  the EOG, the Sustainable Apparel Coalition and Leadership and Sustainability  to hear how they have been working together and with brands and retailers  from the hard goods sector to develop the Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM) to better function and support sporting goods facilities who wish to  use the Higg FEM. Hear how they have developed the 'How to Higg' Guide and  how they are currently working on the FEM 4.0 to ensure it specifically  supports sporting equipment manufacturers, their processes and materials.

Textile  to Textile Recycling with the Accelerating Circularity Project

Accelerating  Circularity aims to establish systems that will use the embedded value and  resources in existing textiles for new products, reducing the millions of  tons of textile waste annually going into landfills and thereby supporting  the reduction of the industry’s GHG emissions.
