Protect Our Winters mobility week
JOIN THE POW MOBILITY WEEK CHALLENGE
Mobility week 28th March - 3rd April 2022
Emissions from transport are the biggest contribution to climate change from outdoor activities. Protect Our Winters (POW) are challenging organisations or individuals for an entire week to ditch the car and plane and change it for the train, bike, skateboard, your legs or whatever suits your fancy. It is not only fun and good for the planet but also great prizes are waiting for the participants. Through this awareness-raising campaign POW want to encourage behavioural change in favour of active mobility, public and human-powered transport and other clean, intelligent transport solutions.
The EOG hosted a webinar on 11th March with Dan Yates and Sören Ronge from Protect Our Winters.

What is the problem?
The transport sector is Europe’s second largest emitter of greenhouse gases, contributing more than a quarter of all emissions on the continent. Within the tourism sector, transport accounts for 75% of the global emissions, of this 40% is attributable to air travel. Transport is therefore a key driver of climate change; raising temperature, shortening winters and reducing snowfall. As the outdoor community we see the impact of these changes through melting glaciers, increasing rockfall and smaller snowpacks.
In the meantime you can find out more about mobility week on the POW mobility week website
Or you can go to the POW Sustainable Transport Hub for information and ideas as to how to travel more sustainably and to reduce CO2 of your next trip.
